Chairperson Message
Prof. Dr. Rashid Mustafa Korai
On behalf of the Petroleum & Gas Engineering department of the University, I would like to welcome you all.
Day by day, the energy crisis is rising, and the necessity for petroleum and gas materials is becoming crucial. The petroleum sector in Pakistan needs engineers who will work to solve the energy issues in the country. The job of a petroleum engineer is enhanced oil recovery, natural gas transmission, and petroleum distribution. By studying Petroleum Engineering, you can become reservoir engineers, production engineers, and drilling engineers.
The department was established in 2011 with the mission to provide high quality engineering program in petroleum and gas discipline. Since 2015, we are producing technically skilled petroleum and gas engineering graduates capable to strengthen the country professional manpower. Our program is up to date with the current standards and requirements of the petroleum industry. Our department has acquired academic licenses of commercial petroleum engineering software used in the petroleum industry so that our students can be well-trained and well-prepared to start their career in the petroleum industry. To meet the energy demands of our country, our students are currently focusing on the research projects related to unconventional hydrocarbons. We aim at producing technically sound petroleum engineers with skills level required to meet the requirements of country to develop both conventional and unconventional natural energy resources. Mostly foreign qualified, our faculty provide in-depth knowledge in core areas with emphasis on the concepts and applications as per OBE based education to train young minds on practical, theoretical and research horizons. We are anticipating a paradigm shift in academic and research environment in the department.
We constantly update our course structure based upon the feedback from the industry and technological developments in the subject areas. Vibrant SPE-DUET student chapter with international recognition provides an opportunity to students for personal and professional growth. We have recently upgraded our laboratories. Here, I would like to especially mention the facilities in our Petro-Physics laboratory and Drilling simulators in our simulation’s laboratory. These facilities have been designed to take into considerations the progress in reservoir engineering and drilling simulation technology. Studies in both laboratories help in increasing safety and efficiency in the oil and gas industry.
The above developments are just a preview of recent developments in the department. Department welcome the aspirants for admission in Department of Petroleum and Gas. For visits, our team will facilitate a complete tour of academic facilities in the department.
